Chad is such a funny guy that I often have to suppress giggle when talk to him. A couple of days ago while discussing environmental clauses he started to give an example referring to two violators who were women. Because I was present he was struggling so hard about using the right words. He was trying to say "ladies" but he first said "girls" then switched to "women". Then every time he had to struggle again. I tried so hard not to laugh. I found this charming. He's a gun-ho type but quite sensitive about southern hospitality. I can sort of imagine how he talks when he is in a men-only-club holding a cigar in his hand. Finally I did have a chance to laugh out loud when he started to complain about Federal government.
He has a hobby of owning cows, about 200 of them, an expensive hobby. I know nothing about the cattle business, only know that animals have high mortality rate and high cost of maintaining them. That's why Fed subsidizes owners by giving tax breaks. But the tax law is very complicated. If not careful it could be backfired. An acquittance,Dan, used to own cows just for the sake of tax breaks, but later IRS denied the tax benefit. Adding salt to the injury, it's retroactive with penalty. Dan was still in rage when recounted that. Poor Dan was pretty unlucky with tax law. He bought a piece of land thinking later it could be developed. It was next to a wetland near water. Some eagles happened to live there. Then government declared his land was a part of protected area for preserving the nature. It made him mad like hell. It sounded funny to an outsider but not so funny had it happened to myself.
